"It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees." - Dolores Ibárruri, Spanish leader.
Direct action involves taking immediate, collective steps to address issues experienced within our communities.
Techniques include strikes, sit-ins, boycotts, blockades, mutual aid efforts, and public demonstrations, all aimed at disrupting oppression and highlighting injustice.
These actions often empower communities by demonstrating solidarity and forcing attention upon urgent problems to facilitate change.
Direct action also includes mutual aid actions.
Mutual aid is designed to address immediate needs without relying on government institutions or large organizations.
Examples of mutual aide include efforts like organizing food distribution to combat local hunger, resource distribution for unhoused individuals, or setting up free stores & blessing boxes for people to share resources. These actions can make a difference locally and be performed by anyone.
larger efforts include neighborhood health clinics offering free care, grassroots disaster relief efforts, or community bail funds to support those impacted by the criminal justice system. These efforts often require higher levels of organization and resources.
