Court records indicate that Janet L. Bickel Hutson has prosecuted cases on behalf of the District 15 Attorney's office in 2018, despite pleading guilty in 2006 to offering false evidence, drug possession and perjury following a multicounty grand jury investigation. She was indicted on charges of drug possession and perjury after allegedly taking methamphetamine from a crime scene in Tahlequah and attempting to conceal her actions. Subsequently, she surrendered her law license in July 2007, foregoing disbarment proceedings.
Hutson petitioned for reinstatement on July 25, 2018, and was denied. Court records indicate she prosecuted at least one, if not more, DRUG RELATED criminal cases in District 12 [4/18/2018], unlawfully, absent a bar license. Hutson's bar license was not reinstated until February of 2020, at which point, it appears she entered private practice.
"Society wins not only when the guilty are convicted but when criminal trials are fair; our system of the administration of justice suffers when any accused is treated unfairly." - William O. Douglas, Associate Justice Supreme Court of the United States
